As part of the ongoing development of a draft North Central Coast MPA Monitoring Plan, the Marine Protected Areas Monitoring Enterprise and the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) are convening a workshop on March 11-12, 2009 in Pacifica. This is a follow-up to an initial workshop held in Pacifica on October 22-23, 2008.

At the workshop, invited scientists, stakeholders, and resource managers will discuss a suite of recommended attributes and indicators for monitoring MPAs in the north central coast region. This will inform development of a draft plan for baseline and long-term monitoring for the north central coast region MPA network component. This draft plan is expected to be released for scientific and public review in late spring of 2009.

The focus of the workshop is on invited scientists, stakeholders, and resource managers. Members of the public are also welcome to observe the workshop. Public comment periods will be provided (see agenda, available at http://www.calost.org/monitoring_ent.html by March 4, 2009).

The workshop will be held at the following place and times:
